Elizabeth Ann "Dixie" Lyons was born February 27, 1939 in Maben, MS. She was an accomplished musician who loved music and used her talents to glorify the Lord. Her claim to fame was when she and her sister-in-law sang as back-up singers for Elvis Presley in 1955. In 1956 Dixie married Gene, who would come to be her husband of almost 52 years. They opened, owned and operated Dixie Auto Sales and established Dixie Automobile Auction in Grenada, MS in 1981. She lived an accomplished life as she was past-president of Grenada Ladies Civitan Club, a spotlighted woman during National Business Week in the Business and Professional Women's Club and active in numerous other civic and charitable organizations. Dixie was also salon owner, Paige Parker's, grandmother. Dixie passed away in February 2008 after a long battle with cancer. She left a legacy of faith, service, devotion and love for family, friends, church and community.
Five years after Dixie's passing, Paige and her husband, Will, became pregnant with what would have been Dixie's first great granddaughter. It was without question that she would become the namesake of her great grandmother. Dixie Danielle Parker was born July 30, 2013 in Germantown, TN. Not long after birth, Dixie started having medical problems of her own.
After many tests, procedures and surgeries, Dixie was been diagnosed with an unnamed genetic and neurological disorder. She also lives with a gastrostomy (feeding) tube. Even so young, Dixie is already following in her great grandmother’s footsteps of strength and resiliency.
In her role as a Stylist and the owner of Salon Dixie, Paige hopes to fulfill a dream of success in a small business as she watched her grandmother do all those years. She also hopes to give each customer who walks through her doors a little bit of love and legacy before they walk out.
"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold." ~Proverbs 22:1
